In the Psalms we have the poetry of prayer, of song, of despair, and praise. We see more and more light, illuminating God's redemptive plan. The progressive revelation that starts with the announcement of the seed of the woman in Genesis, the crushing of Satan, the bruising of the Son of God. The Psalmists are all too aware of the sacrificial system, the blood atonement. They have the picture of substitution in the replacement of Isaac with the ram, the laying on of hands of the priest upon the scapegoat, symbolically transferring the sins of the nation to a goat that is released into the wilderness outside the camp. It is clear throughout the Psalms that they had the law, studied it, and in honest reflection, David especially, saw himself in breech of God's law. There are 150 Psalms, but for my summation I will concentrate on those referencing the One figure in all of human history wherein all redemptive hope resides.

16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water. Suddenly the heavens were opened, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and resting on Him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased!”… Matthew 3: 16-17

As it is written in the second Psalm: ‘You are My Son; today I have become Your Father.’ 34 In fact, God raised Him from the dead never to see decay.
