#20"Noah" Genesis 6

This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God. And Noah begot three sons: Shem , Ham, and Japheth. The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth. Genesis 6:9-12 NKJV

We ended the last study with God being sorry that he made men, but also with Noah finding grace in the eyes of the Lord.

But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble." Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

In verse 9 it describes Noah as a just man. The Bible tells us that the just shall live by faith, and also that without faith it is impossible to please Him. Noah was considered just through faith, and the choice to pursue God's righteousness, through obedience to Him, shows him perfect compared to his generation. It is not that Noah was without sin, but rather that he trusted God and was humble before Him.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith. Hebrews 11:7 NKJV

God finds the earth corrupt and violent. This has most likely been accelerated by Satan and his fallen angels cohabiting with men. There is much violence in the earth but keep in mind that God has promised a deliverer that will crush Satan's head. He promises to bring Him through the seed of the woman, but at the same time He hates sin.
