#266 Leviticus 20 Part 1 Who's Your Molech?

And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

2 Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel, Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that giveth any of his seed unto Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones.

3 And I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto Molech, to defile my sanctuary, and to profane my holy name.

4 And if the people of the land do any ways hide their eyes from the man, when he giveth of his seed unto Molech, and kill him not:

5 Then I will set my face against that man, and against his family, and will cut him off, and all that go a whoring after him, to commit whoredom with Molech, from among their people. Leviticus 20: 1-5 KJV

So again this Molech is mentioned, and from what I read he is a deity that was worshiped by those to whom Israel had association. As was so often the case with Israel and is found to be in the church today, these pagan practices were assimilated in to the lives of Abraham's children. It is a violation of the commandment:

"I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.3"You shall have no other gods before Me. 4"You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.…Exodus 20:2-4

I have read several descriptions of this, some describing an image made of metal that was heated to intensity. The children of those, who held such superstitious notions, were passed through the heat of the arms, and in this way preserved against infant mortality. It must have been a strong tie to the culture of the time, because it is mentioned by name and twice. God's demand is that we not make up our own gods, nor adjust our ideals to our neighbors. Here, the people are also commanded to not pretend that it is not happening. It will put you in an uncomfortable position for sure, and if you do not agree with every fancy or superstition that men subscribe to, then some will label you a bigot. "Look at the piece of wood" they say. "That is not wood, it is metal," you correct them. "That is not free," you tell them, someone had to earn it. "That is not the equivalent of your tonsils, it is a human being." In all this, and no matter how justified by way of truth and reason you may feel, it is ours to hate the lie and it's behaviors, not the sinner. If you truly hate the sin then you will most definitely find love and pray for mercy for the sinner, because you will see that same place from whence you came. You will find in yourself daily that need to confess your sin, and bring to God that which you did not find nearly so grotesque in days past. Pray for your neighbors and throw away your idols. 

20 Those who say, “I love God,” and hate their brothers or sisters, are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sisterd whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen. 21 The commandment we have from him is this: those who love God must love their brothers and sisters also. 1John 4: 20&21

#265 Playing Church

20 Moreover thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbour's wife, to defile thyself with her.

21 And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the Lord.

22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

23 Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.

24 Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you:

25 And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.

26 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you:

27 (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;)

28 That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you.

29 For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people.

30 Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the Lord your God.

I remember being at a particular church as a young man, a church where the pastor had made himself unpopular with his parishioners. He did so by sharing what the word of God had to say about adultery, and for coming out against the men in the church for not taking responsibility. One of the matriarchs in the church even approached him, on behalf of the members, and asked that he leave the home life out of his messages, it was making some of the church uncomfortable. It is a misconception about pastors and or "Christians" in general that the Bible is so vastly open to interpretation, and that one must either find a pastor to their liking or bend the pastor to their will. The mistake here is assuming that this somehow makes right, that the pastor or any other reader of the word has such authority as to customize the gospel to your liking. 

5 So Christ has made us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get all tied up again in the chains of slavery to Jewish laws and ceremonies. 2 Listen to me, for this is serious: if you are counting on circumcision and keeping the Jewish laws to make you right with God, then Christ cannot save you. 3 I’ll say it again. Anyone trying to find favor with God by being circumcised must always obey every other Jewish law or perish.4 Christ is useless to you if you are counting on clearing your debt to God by keeping those laws; you are lost from God’s grace.

5 But we by the help of the Holy Spirit are counting on Christ’s death to clear away our sins and make us right with God. 6 And we to whom Christ has given eternal life don’t need to worry about whether we have been circumcised or not, or whether we are obeying the Jewish ceremonies or not; for all we need is faith working through love.

7 You were getting along so well. Who has interfered with you to hold you back from following the truth? 8 It certainly isn’t God who has done it, for he is the one who has called you to freedom in Christ. 9 But it takes only one wrong person among you to infect all the others.

10 I am trusting the Lord to bring you back to believing as I do about these things. God will deal with that person, whoever he is, who has been troubling and confusing you.

11 Some people even say that I myself am preaching that circumcision and Jewish laws are necessary to the plan of salvation. Well, if I preached that, I would be persecuted no more—for that message doesn’t offend anyone. The fact that I am still being persecuted proves that I am still preaching salvation through faith in the cross of Christ alone.

12 I only wish these teachers who want you to cut yourselves by being circumcised would cut themselves off from you and leave you alone! Galatians 5:1-12

So church membership, being circumcised, programs, customs and traditions, are not an alternate gospel. They in no way remove our need of the cross. There were plenty of false teachers in Paul's time, flatterers and self seeking prophets, so now you tell me that you found a pastor who agrees with you. You say you have a teacher that feels right, because she is all about love. Your teacher said that your lifestyle is a right of birth, and only condemned for the Jews who were under the law, yet were the people of Sodom and Gomorrah under such ceremonial laws? Do they even have anything to do with each other? I would think as people of the book we should want someone to tell it like it is, because how loving is it for your teacher to seek your approval at the cost of the truth and your relationship with a just God? Is He a God of confusion, or do His moral judgments still stand? You are not a person of the book, a Christian, if you are unwilling to view the whole of it, and telling me that you love me, without telling me the truth of God, is counterfeit. I was not born to any magical race though, and I have no special powers that separate me from the likes of all of humanity. Like you, I was born a sinner, but I know that there is power not of myself, but in the precious blood of Jesus Christ. Though the land would want to vomit us out, there is this hope in Jesus Christ for me and all my fellow human beings. I love you, and so I beg of you, please come to the Cross, trust in Jesus, not in men, pastors, religion, or yourself. 

13 For, dear brothers, you have been given freedom: not freedom to do wrong, but freedom to love and serve each other. 14 For the whole Law can be summed up in this one command: “Love others as you love yourself.” 15 But if instead of showing love among yourselves you are always critical and catty, watch out! Beware of ruining each other.

16 I advise you to obey only the Holy Spirit’s instructions. He will tell you where to go and what to do, and then you won’t always be doing the wrong things your evil nature wants you to. 17 For we naturally love to do evil things that are just the opposite from the things that the Holy Spirit tells us to do; and the good things we want to do when the Spirit has his way with us are just the opposite of our natural desires. These two forces within us are constantly fighting each other to win control over us, and our wishes are never free from their pressures. 18 When you are guided by the Holy Spirit, you need no longer force yourself to obey Jewish laws.

19 But when you follow your own wrong inclinations, your lives will produce these evil results: impure thoughts, eagerness for lustful pleasure, 20 idolatry, spiritism (that is, encouraging the activity of demons), hatred and fighting, jealousy and anger, constant effort to get the best for yourself, complaints and criticisms, the feeling that everyone else is wrong except those in your own little group—and there will be wrong doctrine, 21 envy, murder, drunkenness, wild parties, and all that sort of thing. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

22 But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control; and here there is no conflict with Jewish laws.

24 Those who belong to Christ have nailed their natural evil desires to his cross and crucified them there.

25 If we are living now by the Holy Spirit’s power, let us follow the Holy Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. 26 Then we won’t need to look for honors and popularity, which lead to jealousy and hard feelings. Galatians 5:13-25

#264 Cut Off His Head

6 None of you shall approach to any that is near of kin to him, to uncover their nakedness: I am the Lord.

7 The nakedness of thy father, or the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

8 The nakedness of thy father's wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father's nakedness.

9 The nakedness of thy sister, the daughter of thy father, or daughter of thy mother, whether she be born at home, or born abroad, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover.

10 The nakedness of thy son's daughter, or of thy daughter's daughter, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover: for theirs is thine own nakedness.

11 The nakedness of thy father's wife's daughter, begotten of thy father, she is thy sister, thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

12 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father's sister: she is thy father's near kinswoman.

13 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother's sister: for she is thy mother's near kinswoman.

14 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father's brother, thou shalt not approach to his wife: she is thine aunt.

15 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy daughter in law: she is thy son's wife; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

16 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy brother's wife: it is thy brother's nakedness.

17 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter, neither shalt thou take her son's daughter, or her daughter's daughter, to uncover her nakedness; for they are her near kinswomen: it is wickedness.

18 Neither shalt thou take a wife to her sister, to vex her, to uncover her nakedness, beside the other in her life time.

19 Also thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is put apart for her uncleanness. Leviticus 18: 6-19 KJV

One would think these are common sense practices, that need not be mentioned. Leave your kinfolk alone. It's no secret that these practices have long been condemned, but now people question them, in light of so called "science". After all the Bible is "old and archaic", right, and as so many memes on Facebook have stated, "why is Christianity so concerned with other people's bed rooms and or reproductive organs?" It is a fair question, why should I be concerned? After all, I am told, that you can't help who you love, that we can now perform genetic testing to ensure that incest does not lead to deformity, and if two people cannot control themselves then they can also terminate the resulting life, if "need" be. So yes, we do have technology, and we can see in part why these laws were made, but yet they extend past those relations of blood. They extend far past those concerns of genetic degradation. There is more than just the letter here; there are matters most spiritual indeed, for if there is a God of creation then He be that same God over pro creation. In the spiritual, which we so quickly move away from or confuse with our own preferences for religion, there is also this foundation of marriage and family. It extends it to the extent of oneness, in that thy son's wife, brother's wife, daughter of a woman, even though not your own daughter by blood, it is a sin against thy son, brother, wife, and therefore against thine own person. These things were all common practice in the surrounding cultures, and even this week I have turned on the news and heard such a story about a man and his daughter. Christians are human too, and come from this world. It is no less a sin when it is heard of in the church; it is there the ultimate hypocrisy for aren't our very lives and testimonies to convict the world of sin? The concern is there, even an atheist has his opinions on such matters; it easy to pretend there is no absolute measure of right or wrong or that it is none of your business, and that you just want everyone to be happy, but there always comes a point where it matters. Do you protect your children? Do you condone all behaviors? Let's not forget that it is not the Bible that has so elevated the act of procreation that it has justified the prejudiced against sexual responsibility that is now so prevalent. It is not Biblical Christianity that sacrifices millions of children each year, promotes sex slavery or parts farming. The reality of it is, we live in a fallen world, but Christ came to seek and save the lost. The Bible points out these behaviors as sin, and they effect us both physically and spiritually. The whole of humanity has a view of sexuality that comes from this fallen and idolatrous nature. So, why do I care?

“All this I have told you so that you will not fall away. 2 They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God. 3 They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me. 4 I have told you this, so that when their time comes you will remember that I warned you about them. I did not tell you this from the beginning because I was with you, 5 but now I am going to him who sent me. None of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ 6 Rather, you are filled with grief because I have said these things. 7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8 When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 about sin, because people do not believe in me; 10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father,where you can see me no longer; 11 and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.

12 “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.” John 16:1-15

15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Mark 16: 15&16

#263 Embrace the Wind I Did

And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, I am the Lord your God.

3 After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances.

4 Ye shall do my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk therein: I am the Lord your God.

5 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the Lord. Leviticus 18: 1-5 KJV

It is an interesting opener to contemplate, since He is God regardless, and there is no other outside the vanity of the mind. This repeats the commandment that we shall have no other gods before Him. So what does it say about our natural state, the one He first finds us in? It is well put that we are at enmity with God, maybe not with lower case god, but with the God that presents Himself through the inspired Word, the clash is inevitable. I have done many things in response to God: first I smiled and then invented lower case god, after all the imagination is a wonderful place. There it is that I am the hero in that novel and god has recruited me, so I go to him when I need something. It was not till much later that I realized God was never in need of or waiting for my endorsement. Secondly, I forgot about God, I did that a lot, I still have my moments when I allow the volume of all else to be turned up too high. His voice is still there, He is still God, the volume of life, the noise, the drama, none of it changes Who He is or what He has said. Thirdly, I laughed and tried to create an even lower case straw man, a god that I could easily burn down with my understanding of "science" or sarcasm. Here it was though, when the scales are pulled back from the eyes, I find myself not so logical as I thought and in fact quite  bent to my wants and emotions. I realize, the problem with the straw man is that defeating him is defeating a creature created for defeat, created by myself and the world, but the Creator of everything, oh my, and no wonder He has to say, "I am the Lord your God." He has to tell us that we are no longer like that from whence we came, and we cannot be like the people in the land where we presently dwell. To say, yes there is God, but to not change or be set apart, is to create this god, this little, impotent, clay figurine. Sure, we may so easily crush him later or the world may grind it to dust, but don't hold your head so high, because it was never God you sought. 

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. Romans 12: 1-3 KJV

#262 Bloody Good

And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

2 Speak unto Aaron, and unto his sons, and unto all the children of Israel, and say unto them; This is the thing which the Lord hath commanded, saying,

3 What man soever there be of the house of Israel, that killeth an ox, or lamb, or goat, in the camp, or that killeth it out of the camp,

4 And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer an offering unto the Lord before the tabernacle of the Lord; blood shall be imputed unto that man; he hath shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people:

5 To the end that the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices, which they offer in the open field, even that they may bring them unto the Lord, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest, and offer them for peace offerings unto the Lord.

6 And the priest shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar of the Lord at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and burn the fat for a sweet savour unto the Lord.

7 And they shall no more offer their sacrifices unto devils, after whom they have gone a whoring. This shall be a statute for ever unto them throughout their generations.

8 And thou shalt say unto them, Whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers which sojourn among you, that offereth a burnt offering or sacrifice,

9 And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer it unto the Lord; even that man shall be cut off from among his people.

10 And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people.

11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

12 Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood.

13 And whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, which hunteth and catcheth any beast or fowl that may be eaten; he shall even pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with dust.

14 For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off.

15 And every soul that eateth that which died of itself, or that which was torn with beasts, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger, he shall both wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even: then shall he be clean.

16 But if he wash them not, nor bathe his flesh; then he shall bear his iniquity. Leviticus 17 KJV

My mother would have us say a blessing before each meal, and the people here could not for themselves do in such a manner. They would bring the animal to be consumed to the priest and the meal following would be a peace offering. When Christ tells the crowd, "For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. 56"He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. 57"As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also will live because of Me.…, it is no foreign teaching to them, but it is God's interpretation and not their own John 6:55-57. I take the bull to the priest because I am not fit of my own; I am unclean. The priest does what God has told him to do and blesses the meat, which is consumed by me. This is the reflection, the image in the old of Christ, for He was no new teaching to them either. I dare say that none of these things ceremonial are of any value unless they are temporary. The meat does me no good unless I consume it. Unless Christ comes then we are caught in a perpetual death, sacrifices that cannot last for they are not of an eternal nature nor offered by that which is infinitely holy and opposed to sin. So for good reason, I do not go to a human priest, my Priest has come and offered Himself as a sacrifice and become my peace offering by faith. God no longer dwells in man made structures, my body is the temple of the Holy Ghost and I have access to the throne room. My Priest is Christ, my offering is through Christ, my acceptance is in Him. For myself, I see revealed here the importance of doctrine. It is clear that the people still held much to the idolatries they had learned in Egypt and would be quick to pick up more from their new neighbors. The penalty could be so severe as to have oneself cut off, and there was no "during the week" sort of course and a simple apology on the Sabbath. You could not adapt the practices of your neighbors, and so Israel was, for the most part, greatly cut off from such intimacies as the breaking of bread with those around them. It was not impossible, they could have company but they could not change their practice. You would have to prepare in advance for travel, present the reason and or go without. There was the lower crime here when an animal had been killed by another animal, one could eat this meat, but be considered uncleaned until washed. If you chose not to wash then you chose to bear the iniquity of your sin, and how many times have we chose to justify our sin rather than to confess it to the Lord. 

Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: 1 Peter 1:1-10 KJV

The blood, and how precious it must be, but not the teaching blood of bulls and goats, rather the blood of eternal ramifications. It is the blood of Christ that diminishes the ideals of gold and silver, which these people held so high. It is His blood that atones and washes us clean. Nothing that happens in this world or that people suppose is decided in this world changes who God has called me to be as a believer. Nothing that the "super prophets" say changes what God's intent is, and so the blood and the practices of the world, calling good evil and evil good, only keeps us unclean, bearing our iniquities. Tell the truth in love and be willing to walk away. Pray, because it is more important for them to hear God's voice than for you to win an argument. 

26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? Hebrews 10:26-29

#261 Sobering

And the Lord spake unto Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they offered before the Lord, and died;

2 And the Lord said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.

3 Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.

4 He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with a linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: these are holy garments; therefore shall he wash his flesh in water, and so put them on.

5 And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.

6 And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make an atonement for himself, and for his house.

7 And he shall take the two goats, and present them before the Lord at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

8 And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the Lord, and the other lot for the scapegoat.

9 And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the Lord's lot fell, and offer him for a sin offering.

10 But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the Lord, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.

11 And Aaron shall bring the bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make an atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the sin offering which is for himself:

12 And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the Lord, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the vail:

13 And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the Lord, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not:

14 And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times.

15 Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat:

16 And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness.

17 And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make an atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made an atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel.

18 And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the Lord, and make an atonement for it; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about.

19 And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and hallow it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.

20 And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy place, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat:

21 And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness:

22 And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.

23 And Aaron shall come into the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall put off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the holy place, and shall leave them there:

24 And he shall wash his flesh with water in the holy place, and put on his garments, and come forth, and offer his burnt offering, and the burnt offering of the people, and make an atonement for himself, and for the people.

25 And the fat of the sin offering shall he burn upon the altar.

26 And he that let go the goat for the scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward come into the camp.

27 And the bullock for the sin offering, and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the holy place, shall one carry forth without the camp; and they shall burn in the fire their skins, and their flesh, and their dung.

28 And he that burneth them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.

29 And this shall be a statute for ever unto you: that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourneth among you:

30 For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the Lord.

31 It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls, by a statute for ever.

32 And the priest, whom he shall anoint, and whom he shall consecrate to minister in the priest's office in his father's stead, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen clothes, even the holy garments:

33 And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make an atonement for the tabernacle of the congregation, and for the altar, and he shall make an atonement for the priests, and for all the people of the congregation.

It is easy for men to be seduced by power, magic and title. Aaron's sons were priest, but God did not hold them as above His own law, and when they took lightly their office, misinterpreted their position, He took back what belongs to Him. We take God in such a light manner as if we are more than those images that He created. Everyone is right in his own eyes and so we make a god that fits our being, and mistake His patience and long suffering for our being right. Ah, I know, the jolly fat fellow you believe in is nothing like this, and he would not have killed Aaron's sons then either. We should think before we enter, die to our delusions of grandeur with the first goat, and by faith except that blood which gives us entry. Poor Aaron, what has he been chosen for? The priest must be all the more reliant upon the words of God, and take all the more care.

For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.

3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.

4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:

6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;

10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:

Why do you continue to separate this people in such a way? Yet through this very people, all people are blessed. How does man approach God, His tabernacle? I know here because I am taught by that which is ceremonially unclean. There is a way to approach God, and it is not in arrogance, for I was born with this condition, as the natural flow of women would pronounce, but my heart and actions will testify that I have embraced my sinful nature. It may not show in my own body, but I should repent of even my thoughts when I see the pain worn by others. Yes, you say we "reap what we sew", but my salvation was no work of my own, and so I pray for the man with a venereal disease, and I plead with the woman dying in her sin. I love you, and I am no different than you, please repent, turn to God and quit chasing dead ends. See humanity as made in the image of God, quit sacrificing life, start living unto eternity.

#259 We Have Issues

And the Lord spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying,

2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When any man hath a running issue out of his flesh, because of his issue he is unclean.

3 And this shall be his uncleanness in his issue: whether his flesh run with his issue, or his flesh be stopped from his issue, it is his uncleanness.

4 Every bed, whereon he lieth that hath the issue, is unclean: and every thing, whereon he sitteth, shall be unclean.

5 And whosoever toucheth his bed shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.

6 And he that sitteth on any thing whereon he sat that hath the issue shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.

7 And he that toucheth the flesh of him that hath the issue shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.

8 And if he that hath the issue spit upon him that is clean; then he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.

9 And what saddle soever he rideth upon that hath the issue shall be unclean.

10 And whosoever toucheth any thing that was under him shall be unclean until the even: and he that beareth any of those things shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.

11 And whomsoever he toucheth that hath the issue, and hath not rinsed his hands in water, he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.

12 And the vessel of earth, that he toucheth which hath the issue, shall be broken: and every vessel of wood shall be rinsed in water.

Some of our sins show up in our flesh, a tell of disease and death, which all sins lead to. We glorify much about sin, and scream at God for the result or refuse to believe in Him, because what God would allow this. The theatrics of our groaning, mourning of our idols, but God who is telling us the way out and providing the substitution, He, we would murder for things temporary. Keep in mind my friend that God is not calling you from any certain point of history or present circumstance, but from all of eternity and with the promise of sanctification. 

5in view of your participation in the gospel from the first day until now. 6For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. 7For it is only right for me to feel this way about you all, because I have you in my heart, since both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers of grace with me.…Philippians 1:5-7

43 And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,

44 Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.

45 And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

46 And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.

47 And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.

16 And the priest shall dip his right finger in the oil that is in his left hand, and shall sprinkle of the oil with his finger seven times before the Lord:

17 And of the rest of the oil that is in his hand shall the priest put upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot, upon the blood of the trespass offering:

18 And the remnant of the oil that is in the priest's hand he shall pour upon the head of him that is to be cleansed: and the priest shall make an atonement for him before the Lord.

19 And the priest shall offer the sin offering, and make an atonement for him that is to be cleansed from his uncleanness; and afterward he shall kill the burnt offering:

20 And the priest shall offer the burnt offering and the meat offering upon the altar: and the priest shall make an atonement for him, and he shall be clean.

21 And if he be poor, and cannot get so much; then he shall take one lamb for a trespass offering to be waved, to make an atonement for him, and one tenth deal of fine flour mingled with oil for a meat offering, and a log of oil;

22 And two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, such as he is able to get; and the one shall be a sin offering, and the other a burnt offering.

23 And he shall bring them on the eighth day for his cleansing unto the priest, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, before the Lord.

36 Then the priest shall command that they empty the house, before the priest go into it to see the plague, that all that is in the house be not made unclean: and afterward the priest shall go in to see the house:

37 And he shall look on the plague, and, behold, if the plague be in the walls of the house with hollow strakes, greenish or reddish, which in sight are lower than the wall;

38 Then the priest shall go out of the house to the door of the house, and shut up the house seven days:

39 And the priest shall come again the seventh day, and shall look: and, behold, if the plague be spread in the walls of the house;

40 Then the priest shall command that they take away the stones in which the plague is, and they shall cast them into an unclean place without the city:

41 And he shall cause the house to be scraped within round about, and they shall pour out the dust that they scrape off without the city into an unclean place:

42 And they shall take other stones, and put them in the place of those stones; and he shall take other morter, and shall plaister the house.

43 And if the plague come again, and break out in the house, after that he hath taken away the stones, and after he hath scraped the house, and after it is plaistered;

44 Then the priest shall come and look, and, behold, if the plague be spread in the house, it is a fretting leprosy in the house; it is unclean.

45 And he shall break down the house, the stones of it, and the timber thereof, and all the morter of the house; and he shall carry them forth out of the city into an unclean place.

46 Moreover he that goeth into the house all the while that it is shut up shall be unclean until the even.

47 And he that lieth in the house shall wash his clothes; and he that eateth in the house shall wash his clothes.

48 And if the priest shall come in, and look upon it, and, behold, the plague hath not spread in the house, after the house was plaistered: then the priest shall pronounce the house clean, because the plague is healed.

49 And he shall take to cleanse the house two birds, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop:

50 And he shall kill the one of the birds in an earthen vessel over running water:

51 And he shall take the cedar wood, and the hyssop, and the scarlet, and the living bird, and dip them in the blood of the slain bird, and in the running water, and sprinkle the house seven times:

52 And he shall cleanse the house with the blood of the bird, and with the running water, and with the living bird, and with the cedar wood, and with the hyssop, and with the scarlet:

53 But he shall let go the living bird out of the city into the open fields, and make an atonement for the house: and it shall be clean.

54 This is the law for all manner of plague of leprosy, and scall,

55 And for the leprosy of a garment, and of a house,

56 And for a rising, and for a scab, and for a bright spot:

57 To teach when it is unclean, and when it is clean: this is the law of leprosy. Leviticus 14:14-57 KJV

I thought the "log" of oil a misprint, but upon further investigation it appears to be a measure, and equivalent to half a pint. It is very clear in here by the repetition and the sacrifices that atonement does not belong inwardly to a person. "And the priest" shall take some of the blood, "and the priest "shall put, for the unclean are not justified by their own blood or actions, but rather by the life and death of another. What of the oil? 

For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; 30and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified. 31What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?…Romans 8:29-31

Oil represents healing, and while many will skip to the oil since it is more appealing, in doing so they misrepresent all of it with another gospel. This healing for Christians is the Holy Spirit, renewing the mind, and bringing in to submission the body, so those who were sick and believed have this hope also of being sanctified. 

nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. 11Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God. 1 Corinthians 6:10&11

God, I beg of you, don't let my story end here, please don't let me live an ordinary life, forgive me, change me.
