The purpose of this book of Esther, as any in the Bible, is to call back to our remembrance the history of God's intervention.
3For even Christ did not please Himself, but as it is written: “The insults of those who insult You have fallen on Me.” 4For everything that was written in the past was written for our instruction, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures, we might have hope. 5Now may the God who gives endurance and encouragement grant you harmony with one another in Christ Jesus,…Romans 15:3-5
It is really never in our interest to throw away history, unless history goes and proves against our interest, then some will throw away anything. Even then it should be the call to address our own interest, look what happened when men did this before, what makes it different now? I cringe when I see people pull down statues that remind them of painful periods in our history, for these are the things that need to be owned. These are the caution tape around the pits of fallen natures, the warning signs of what lies ahead and in the heart of every corrupted soul.
Learn the truth, live it everyday at work and home. If you have done the first two things you are already deep into the third, teach the truth. At the end of Esther was the direction of the people to remember, to add the feast of Purim, go back and read this every year, that one was brought down and one was lifted up. Esther is told not to say who she is, for there was early a concern, but her life was an example, she carried herself well. Mordecai had taught her from a young age, and he himself was the picture of integrity. Look back and study these things, see that those who take a stand do not always do so raised up on the shoulders of thousands, sometimes they are alone, fasting, emptied out of themselves and ideas. Look at all the circumstances leading up to their deliverance, that those who stood up for right, also lived right. Learn, Live and Teach. God is not unaware of the affairs of men; it was a very dark place and yet God had already put everything in order, so just answer the call to the time and place you were brought.
Who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross.…Philippians 2:6-8
